Friend Of The Community Award

On Wednesday, July 14, 2010, Yellow Bird Hotel was honored to receive the 2009 Friend Of The Community award from The Intimate Hotels of Barbados.

The IHB Secretariat said they were pleased to bestow this honour on our hotel because our staff has made great efforts in providing for the less fortunate, bringing awareness to fund raising and environmentally conscious activities and assisting with bringing tourism awareness to students.

The Management & Staff of The Yellow Bird are committed to doing whatever they can to help anyone in need and save the environment. We know that, by ourselves, we cannot save the world but we feel if everyone does their part, a little will go a long way.

During the past year, donations were made to the Paralympic Association of Barbados, the Lester Vaughn School to assist them in their graduation ceremony, Dame Olga Lopes Seale received cash to help purchase school supplies for needy children and first aid items were donated to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

We hosted a visit from the Queen's College 5th Form Geography class and allowed the kids to tour the property, take pictures and ask questions about the tourism product.

We have also collected old sheets, towels and cushions and have donated them to the Hope Sanctuary in Barbados, an organization that provides food and shelter for stray dogs.

In February this year, we sold Gold Hearts for the Variety Club of Barbados.

Yellow Bird Hotel would like to take this opportunity to thank Gayle, Tracy & Janelle at the Intimate Hotels of Barbados for selecting us for this wonderful award and our congratulations go out to the other member hotels who also won deserving awards on Wednesday.
